New executive of The National Association of Libraries and Information Services Elected...

The National Association of Libraries and Information Professionals (NALIP) - Saint Lucia was formed on March 12th, 2014 to advocate on behalf of the needs of all persons in libraries and information related units.
On Friday March 7th, 2016 The National Association of Libraries and Information Professionals held its annual general meeting at which a new executive was elected. The revitalized library and information association consists of persons in the information related units such as the Central or Public library and its branches, special libraries and resource centers, national archives, records management units, government agencies and academic libraries. As a result, the new executive consists of not only librarians but persons who represent other departments of information in the society. The new executive is as follows:
President- Ms. Daisy St Rose of The University of the West Indies Open Campus Saint Lucia site, Vice President, Mrs. Reine James- Records and Archives Manager of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Secretary Mrs. Vanesta Moses- Felix, librarian at American International Medical University, Assistant Secretary Ms. Anselma Fadlin – Co-ordinator of the Learning Resource Center at Monroe College, Treasurer Miss Sally Rosemond of Gros Islet Public Library, Public Relations Officer Miss Oliviann Weekes of Marchand Library as well as Mrs. Catherine Prospere ( Soufriere Library) and Mrs. Madge Delmar ( retired librarian) as trustees.
This association strives to promote the profession of librarianship by increasing public awareness of the field and facilitating activities to promote the professional development of its members. As an organization, it hopes to assist in the implementation of programmes that promote the advancement of national library and information centers and the services that they provide.
NALIP Saint Lucia will celebrate library National library and Information week from March 14th - 19th, 2016 under the theme “Libraries and Information Centres Transform”. We encourage organisations, stakeholders, communities to participate in our Libraries Transform Campaign which is aimed at obtaining stories about the impact of libraries and information units in our lives. The president Ms. St. Rose, hopes that the public will support the year- long Libraries Transform campaign which will help NALIP show decision makers the value of libraries and information centres in transforming lives even in the digital age. The association encourages all persons in the information field to participate in this celebration and to become a member of the association, which strives to promote and nurture this important profession.
