Launch of National Library and Information Month 2019...

The National Association of Librarians and Information Professionals (NALIP-St Lucia) celebrates April 2019 as National Library and Information Month under the theme " Libraries and Information Services on the Move: Enhancing Communities through Connections & Collaboration." This year’s observance seeks to give more visibility to the Association (NALIP) and it's work within the communities. The Schedule of activities is as follows: Mid-April 2019- Launch of Book Review Competition · 200-250 word review of book " Green Days by the River " by Michael Anthony · Open to Students age 12-15 years · Deadline for Submissions (TBA) and prize giving ceremony will be held during reading month, 2019 Monday April 2nd   2019- Showcase of films adapted from classical books · Moby Dick - Vieux Fort Library 10am (Friday 26th April, 2019) · Huckleberry Finn - Central Library 10am Monday April 8th, 2019- Opening Ceremony (Central Library Reading

NALIP Saint Lucia mourns the passing of former librarian and member of its executive Ms. Rosamund Stanislas...

It is with deep sadness that the National Association of Librarians and Information Professionals (NALIP) Saint Lucia mourns the passing of former librarian and member of its executive Ms. Rosamund Stanislas. Ms. Stanislas served as trustee for the executive from 2018 until her passing. She was also an active member of the planning committee for library week from its inception. She lived a life of servitude and humility, dedication and passion for everything "Library' and remained dedicated to any cause in which she shared a vested interest. She was fearless in the pursuit of any and everything that would secure funding for or put Library Services in the limelight. Anything was possible. Ms. Stanislas worked with the public service, first in the Ministry of Education, and later served as senior staff member at the Central library in Castries, along with the G ros Islet Public Library for over 30 years and served in various departments including periodicals.
